hanging out with other ADHD people is such a balm. i can interrupt them midsentence and go “look at that nice duck!!” and they’ll immediately turn around and go “oh my god that is a GOOD duck” instead of just snapping at me to pay attention

And then we can immediately go back to what we were talking about without transition

Except sometimes it becomes

“Oh, sorry, what were you saying?”

“Uh…. something about… hmm…”

“Genshin?”

“No, that was earlier. Oh! But on that note,”

“Wait, I wanted to say something before the duck interruption.”

“Did it have something to do with anchovies?”

“No.”

“Asking the waiter for more bread?”

“No… Actually it might have been after the duck…”

“Oh, you mean the conversation about grabbing toothpicks at the end of the meal and how I hate the dentist?”

“No… WAIT, it was about anchovies! Kind of… I wanted to mention how ridiculously big bluefin tuna can get!”

“How big?”

“They’re enormous, like the biggest one was 13 feet or something, but most of them get to be 7 feet I think!”

“DUDE.”
