I don’t care how you feel about the military, you have to recognize the injustice of this. I have tried to help these guys, with a friend of mine. We just took collections of jackets and whatever we could scrounge or afford (not as much as I would like!) and taking it over to them. One guy I talked to was attacked by gangs and broke his hip. He was in his late sixties. He was in the hospital for over a month, and guess what, Mexico paid for it! There aren’t a lot of social services over there, though. They get dumped over there with no wallet, phone, and all their clothes are taken and they are issued a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants. So they’re easy to spot by gangs, who offer them money and shelter because they know they can shoot, so they would make good gang members. The guys in the pic try to meet them at the dumping point and prevent the gangs from getting them. Unfortunately I haven’t done it lately because I got a different job where I had to travel a lot, but my friend still helps.

I’ve been bringing this to attention since ‘96 when Clinton signed it into law. It now was legal for the Government to enlist an Immigrant even with minor arrests and then deport them upon completion of service.
